Was this all a single/first take?
Truth be told, as a writer, I'm not reading nearly enough books. The last book I read in its entireity is a muslim YA book funnily enough, The Bad Muslim Discount. I too was enthralled and captivated by how I could see myself in it, albeot the main protagonist's story and life were very different from mine. But he was in uni, part of the MSA, and his life and path to God was a messy one with many layers.
My only qualm with it was the absolutely uneeded...explicit details. You know what I mean. Great writing does not need to rely on such tactics to creape an ensnaring tale of romance. Kdramas proved that to me haha. I watched one where, iirc, the most that happened was a holding of hands. That's it! And you don't need me to tell you how these kdramas take you for an emotionally wrecking ride.
I hope to join a bookclub iA, it's just that it takes place a 2h bus ride away and I would go but my coming and going anywhere is always approved by my father, so I sadly have to say no to many things.
